Transportation
Denali
National Park is accessible by road, rail and air. The majority
of visitors to Denali travel by rail from Anchorage or Fairbanks
on the comfortable and scenic Alaska Railroad.
Denali River
Cabins & Cedars Lodge provides complimentary transportation
between our property and the Denali Railroad Depot in conjunction
with the season's train schedule.
The George
Parks Highway connects Anchorage and Fairbanks and provides easy,
scenic access to the Denali River Cabins. It is a scenic 231 mile
drive from Anchorage and just 125 miles from Fairbanks. Passenger
van/bus services from Anchorage and Fairbanks are available. Reservations
are necessary. We can offer contact information for these services.
Air charter
services are also available from Anchorage, Fairbanks and Talkeetna.
Reservations are necessary and we will be happy to reserve these
services for you.
If you have
a private vehicle, you may also drive the first 15 mile paved
section of the Denali Park Road to the Savage River Bridge. Travel
beyond this point is restricted to bus traffic only. Because travel
is limited to buses beyond the checkpoint, the wildlife in Denali
has learned to largely ignore the huge vehicles. Riders on the
bus therefore have remarkable opportunities to view wildlife in
their natural setting.
For a full
day excursion we recommend our Kantishna Wilderness Trails, a
13 hour day trip that takes you to the end of the Denali Park
Road. Space is limited to 44 seats per day and advanced reservations
are required. Call (800) 230-7275.
